SPECIAL EVENTS
On December 17th, 2009 Sugar Land Ice & Sports was home to the Texas Roadhouse Meat Cutting Challenge. Despite the bad weather there was an excellent turnout. Visitors had a great time playing in the bumper cars, watching the competition, and eating world class ribs & fixins. All in all it was a great event!

Each year Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center is proud to host a number of special events that range from ice shows to hockey tournaments. We support the sport of skating by sponsoring activities during National Skating Month and give back to the neighborhood through blood drives and other community oriented activities.
One annual tradition that has become a signature event for Sugar Land Ice & Sports is our December presentation of The Nutcracker on Ice. This show is normally held the first weekend in December and showcases the skating skills of local skaters of all skill levels. Planning for the event starts in September and there is much anticipation for both rehearsals and performances. The Nutcracker on Ice is open to all skaters, regardless of age or level.
The annual performance also gives our special skating teams an opportunity to showcase

their hard work to a wider audience. The 2009 Nutcracker on Ice, for example, featured a special performance by the championship Houston Ice Theatre Skaters. Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center also brings in international skating talent to perform at the show. In past years we have featured such skaters as Roheen Wallace and Gev Manoukian. The Christmas spectacular is the perfect opportunity for the Sugar Land and surrounding community to get a taste of the high caliber of talent that is right here at home.
As we rededicate ourselves to your mission of providing fun, safe entertainment you will be seeing more special events and activities being held at the rink. If you have a suggestion for an activity that you feel will offer broad appeal to our skating family, we hope that you will pass your suggestion along to us.
