The Summer Training Program is an extension of the Figure Skating Academy and includes classes and freestyle sessions designed for the advanced, competitive figure skater. Sugar Land Ice offers the highest quality programs with elite instructors, including former World and Olympic competitors. In addition to improved skating skills, skaters participating in the Summer Training Program enjoy the comraderie that comes for working together toward a common goal with their friends and skating partners. Many of our skaters forge friendships that last a lifetime while taking part in the common experience of summer training.

LEVEL REQUIREMENTS
All Freestyle sessions and training classes will be open to skaters who are competing at the following levels:

Elite – Intermediate competitors and higher
Gold  -  Juvenile FS test and higher
Silver  -  Preliminary and Pre-Juvenile level
Bronze  -  Freeskate 1 through Pre-Preliminary levels

  **Each on-ice punch is for 1 – 15 minute class, the 30 minute classes will be 2 punches**

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

ON ICE CLASSES
The following on ice classes are 30 minutes each and are open to any skaters that meets the level requirements.
Power Builder: This class is designed to train through continuous movement.
Tuesdays & Thursdays Bronze/Silver Rink A 10:15am
  Gold Rink B 9:45am
The following on ice classes are 15 minutes each and are open to any skaters that meet their respective level requirements.
Jump / Spin Class: This class is designed to improve jump and spin technique

NEW FOR THE SUMMER PROGRAM! Introducing the IJS Series of classes
Each class is 15 minutes and used to focus on certain program components essential to the IJS.
Transitions: The varied and intricate footwork, positions, movements and holds that link all elements.  This also includes the entrances & exits of technical elements.
Mondays Bronze/Silver Rink B 8:45am
  Silver/Gold Rink A 9:15am
Moves In The Field: This class will teach skaters the variety of difficult turns and patterns that make up the Moves in the Field test structure.  New Moves that go into effect as of September 2010 will also be taught.
Wednesdays Bronze/Silver Rink B 8:45am
  Silver/Gold Rink A 9:15am
Skating Skills: Overall skating ability: edge control and flow over the ice surface demonstrated by a command of the skating vocabulary (edges, steps, turns, etc.), the clarity of technique and use of effortless power to accelerate and vary speed.
Wednesdays Bronze/Silver Rink B 10:00am
  Silver/Gold Rink A 10:30am
CH / PE / INT (Choreography / Performance & Execution / Interpretation): The quality of movement and precision in delivery with the personal and creative translation of the music to movement on ice.
Fridays Bronze/Silver Rink B 8:45am
  Silver/Gold Rink A 9:15am
OFF ICE CLASSES
The following off ice classes are 45 minutes each and are open to any skaters that meet the level requirements.
Off-Ice Jump: This class is designed to improve jump technique through off-ice exercises. Students are split by skill level.
Tuesdays & Thursdays  All levels   1:00pm
Off Ice Conditioning: This class promotes overall fitness and is designed to strengthen core muscles and improve stamina. Please bring a yoga mat.
Mondays & Wednesdays All levels   1:00pm
