Looking for an exciting, healthy activity that can become a lifelong passion? How about a cool place to hang out with your friends? Or maybe you’d like to become the next Mark Messier or Tara Lipinski? Take a class at the Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center and discover the fun of skating.

Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center offers one of the largest Learn to Skate Programs in the country. Designed to incorporate US Figure Skating’s Basic Skills program, Learn to Skate takes skaters from first steps on the ice in Snowplow Sam classes to more advanced skills in the Freestyle courses. Lifelong learners will enjoy Adult classes while those interested in team sports will enjoy hockey. Sugar Land Ice is sure to offer a class for every interest and skill level.

Stroking Classes: $130.00
Price includes ONE (1) 30 minute class per week unless noted otherwise.

Enroll in the same class twice a week and receive the second class for half price! (½ price!)

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Snowplow Sam 1 – Beginner class for ages 4-5
Standing, proper way to fall & get up, marching in place, marching forward, two-foot glide, dip

Snowplow Sam 2 – Intermediate class for ages 4-5
March into two-foot glide, dip, backward wiggles, forward swizzles, rocking horse, two-foot hop

Snowplow Sam 3 – Advanced class for ages 4-5
Forward skating, forward one-foot glides, forward swizzles, backward swizzles, snowplow stop, forward slaloms

Tot Workshop – Advanced class for ages 4-5
Elements from Basic 1-8

Hockey 1 – Beginner hockey class for ages 6-14
Two-foot glide, forward one-foot glide, forward swizzles, backward swizzles, snowplow stop, forward and backward c-cuts. **Helmet and facemask required**

Basic 1 – Beginner class for ages 6-8, 9-14, and adults
March forward, two-foot glide, dip, forward swizzles, backward wiggles, snowplow stop, rocking horse, two-foot hop

Basic 2 – Forward one-foot glide, backward two-foot glide, backward swizzles, two-foot turn, moving snowplow stop, forward alternating 1/2 swizzles

Basic 3
Forward stroking, forward pumps, moving two-foot turns, backward one-foot glides, forward slalom, two-foot spin

Basic 4
Forward crossovers, forward outside three-turns, backward stroking, backward snowplow stop

Basic 5
Backward edges on circle, backward crossovers, beginning one-foot spin, hockey stop, tap toe

Basic 6 & 7
Forward inside three-turns, T-stop, mohawks, backward to forward transitions, lunge, spiral, bunny hop, pivots

Basic 8
Moving forward three-turns, combination move, one-foot spin, waltz jump, mazurka

Freeskate 1-6
Jumps, spins, and moves in the field

Silver/Gold Star Stroking
Development of proper stroking technique, edge quality, and extension with emphasis on quickness (Prerequisite for Platinum Stroking)

Basic Synchro
Learn the basics of Synchronized Skating Skating. Skaters will work as a team on full ice to learn the basic holds, formations, and transitions. (Basic 6-Freeskate 6)

Learn the basics of Synchronized Skating. Skaters will work as a team on full ice to learn the basic holds, formation, and transitions. May use same class incentive discount if also enrolled in Basic 6-Freeskate 6.
