The Houston HERricanes are an all-girls ice hockey club in Houston, Texas for players ranging in age from 8 to 18. The HERricanes play in the Houston In-House league and the ISHL Prep League. HERricane Hockey is developmental with the primary focus on teamwork, team spirit, and providing all players with the opportunity to enjoy playing hockey while increasing skills and knowledge of the game. Newcomers are always welcome as are returning players.
Girls born in 1995 – 2000, are eligible to play in the Peewee league. It is recommended that younger girls play a season before joining Peewee and develop the confidence to ensure that they will feel comfortable playing at this level. When an all girl team plays in the Peewee league against mixed or all boy teams, no checking is permitted by either side.
The Senior HERricane team is open to girls born in 1996 and up– including the senior year at high school and they play at Prep level.
The Houston HERricanes and ISHL have partnered up to form an all girls team to play in the ISHL Prep League..
-Any girl 7th grade-Senior is eligible to play on the team unless rostered on a boys A or AA team.
-Evaluations will take place at Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center on September 30th. The time will be announced soon.
-Games within the ISHL Prep League are no check.
The season includes:
- 18 regular season games including 1 game at the Toyota Center
- 2 pre-season full ice practices
- 15 regular season full ice practices
-The girls can play both Prep and Varsity if they choose.
